NEUROSCIENCE OF COLOUR

The Neuroscience of Colour on the brain and the body

I am a Colourist, I create multi-dimensional colours using metallic and pearlescent acrylics from the largest pigment collection in the world.  Colours vibrate and express that which is otherwise inexpressible.

Colour impacts the brain and it can greatly affect our physiology.  There are clear and established physiological mechanisms through which colour can affect mood, heart rate, alertness and behaviours.

In 2009 blue lights were installed at the end of platforms on Tokyo's Yamanote railway line to reduce the incidence of suicide.  As a result, suicides fell by 74 percent at stations where the blue lights were installed.

Colour’s influence is automatic!

Colours influence mood and environments.  Colours impact our physical body, behaviour and morale. Significantly, employees favour colours such as blue and pink that have calming, trusting effects on one’s psyche. Bright, warm colors such as red and gold help increase confidence in the workplace, further boosting morale.
